as promised, here´s a link to my current blog adventures where the next part of my year will be documented. i have the best intentions to do some illustration while i´m travelling, but in the likely event that that doesn´t happen, you can still read what i´m up to and check out photos at the link below. mulder´s drapery might make a dramatic comeback in june when i hit europe, but don´t count on that either...

blueberries
well this is it for mulder's drapery for a little while...i'm currently in el salvador (i preloaded these images before i left - how organised!) and will be working on my travel journal instead. hopefully it will be more regular then here, albeit a little less pretty as i don't have a laptop with me and image editing (which i use to compensate for my average photography) is no longer an option. once it's up and running i'll post a link, but until then these are some photos from my time in tassie over christmas. so many berries. so. many. berries.

do we be prancy?
i don't have much in the way of interesting things to say about this...not because it doesn't have a story behind it, but because it's based on a joke that would only make sense to a handful of people. and i put 'explaining in-jokes' in the same category of hopelessness as 'describing that dream you had last night', which you realise you don't actually remember all that well the further into it you get – and 'looking through photos that you're not in' because let's be honest...you only ever look at yourself in group shots anyway...
so i've just listed the process instead:
1. roughly sketched in pencil then pen
2. traced in illustrator and evened out
3. refined and neatened
4. outlined and filled
5. last changes and effects/edited in photoshop

illustrator to photoshop
this is pretty embarrassing seeing how long i've been using these programs for, but i've recently discovered the wonder that is importing illustrator files into photoshop, and it is amazing. if you have the patience to organise your illustrator layers in an orderly manner, you can save the file straight out as a .psd and do all your editing from there. amazing? yes.
the bottom image is the straight vector illustration before any shopping...

ex libris
i've been pretty fixated with bookplates since i read 'ex libris - the art of bookplates' a few years ago, and i've been keen to do one of my own for just as long. i hand-lettered this one for a friend who's probably read more books then i've even heard of, so i have no doubt that it's going to get a good work out...
photography by mum – mostly because she's awesome at taking photos and partly because i'm too lazy to...
