is there possibly a better wedding client then two printers? no. there isn't. i do not lie. chloe's brief was "black and gold, and anything that can be printed, we're doing!" which is probably less amazing on all the trees that gave their lives for this wedding, but so much more for the amount of fun embellishments we were able to do with an unlimited printing budget...

as well as the bonanza of an invite, there was the whole stationery suite including (but not limited to) an order of service, menus, flags, perspex table numbers and candy bar place cards.

mum took these photos because she's awesome like that. me, not so much...

 

the professional photos were taken by the talented film team of feather and stone who definitely make all my work look much better then it really is. you should hire them, just quietly... 

 

for anyone who cares, here's the lowdown on the finer details of the invite itself: 

we have an 8-page booklet, screw bound with a UV varnish and gold foil on the cover. there's a removable map fixed with corner tabs and a perforated rsvp postcard. a diecut belly band keeps everything together in a foil stamped box. the end.

tea coup

i may or may not be slightly fixated with brown kraft paper, so i'm quite possibly incapable of turning down any job that involves my favourite stock. needless to say, i was pretty chuffed when asked to design a logo, labeling and business cards for the tea coup.

the tea coup didn't want to go in the direction of dainty tea-parties with cucumber sandwiches and bottomless teacups, instead opting for something quite simple - but a little more organic and industrial. the name 'tea coup' came from the idea of a tea revolution that would rival the coffee industry and win over the edgy, over-caffeinated hot beverage drinkers of the world to the calming scene of chai and ayurvedic spices.

i must admit i'm more of a coffee person myself, but i did enjoy working on this one...

the business card is hand-stamped with custom rubber stamps from argees onto 386gsm doggetts buffalo board, and the earth bags can be ordered online from the states.

illustrated maps

illustrated maps. whoa. why haven't i gotten in to this earlier? they're absolutely amazing. forget maps that help you get to where you need to go - i'm all for maps that tell you where you should be going...and apart from the thousands of amazing maps that will appear on a quick pinterest search, the two lovely people from 'they draw and travel' have made an illustrated map contest where you can upload your map illustrations and [hopefully] sell some prints and get it printed in a book! amazing. also there is fine print shenanigans involved in the whole process, so you should probably read it - but it closes on the 24th of july, so i'm hoping to get something together by then...but here's some maps (from their site and from various other places on the interweb) to get to inspired from in the mean time. they're all linked to their original site where possible...enjoy.

hire me please

this here is a little self-promo package i put together recently in attempt to find myself some work. to tell the truth, it was a bit of a gamble because i had no idea how it would work out, and whether people would respond well or just think i was an idiot. and so far the response has all been positive! 

it's a little hard to tell from the photos, but the piece was around 720mm long and 100mm wide - i had to stick two A3's together to get the right length (my printer and my paper couldn't really allow to print A2). each card had my business card attached to the back, and had each studio's name printed on it for a more personalised touch.
